Professor Abul Kalam Azad (ID 7725) son of Md. Alkas Miah and Khudeja Khatun, was born on 30 September-1961, at the village Golmukapon under Balagonj Upazila of Sylhet District. He duly passed the SSC And HSC Exams from S S High School Balagonj and Sylhet Govt.College in 1978 and 1980 respectively. He obtained BA (Hons) Degree in Philosophy from Dhaka University in 1983. In 1984, he obtained Masters Degree in Philosophy from the same university. The Name of his wife is Sharmin Chowdhury. She obtained her Graduation degree from mc College , Sylhet. She also obtained B.ed degree from Sylhet Govt. T.T College.She is engaged in private service. His only child Nafis Abrar is a SSC candidate for 2020 A.D.
He joined the BCS (General Education) Cadre through 8th BCS -1986. He secured first position (Philosophy) in Merit and joined as a Lecturer at Khagrachari Govt. College on 20 December-1989. Before joining cadre service, he was Lecturer at the Adamjee cantonment college, Dhaka cantonment from April-1988 to December-1989 . He served Sunamganj Govt. College, Sunamganj Brindaban Govt. College, Habiganj, Sylhet MC College. He joined Sreemangal Govt. College, Moulvibazar as Vice Principal on 7 August-2006. Before joining Sreemangal Govt. College, he was Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy of MC College, Sylhet. He was founding Principal (Additional in-charge) of Sreemangal Residential Model Girl’s School and College (Established by the Ministry of Education) from 7 August-2007 to 26 October-2009.
He served the Sreemangal Govt. College as Vice Principal and `Principal in charge’ from 7 August 2006 to 23 October 2017. He was Principal at Sreemangal Government College, Moulvibazar from 23 October -2017 to 28 January-2020. He was Selected as the `Best Principal’ (2018), in the District of Moulvibazar by the Ministry of education. He joined Sylhet Government Women’s College as Principal on 30 January-2020. He received various important professional trainings.
